The Three Main States of Matter
Matter is made from atoms. It is everything around you; anything that has mass and takes up space. It can exist in four states that are later mentioned.
The three main states that exist in matter are solid, liquid and gas. Plasma is more recent so the topic is a bit newer. These three states of matter are very important in science because it is used in our everyday life. There are phases in which solid, liquid and gas goes through to get to each state.
There is a phase each state goes through in order to transform into another state of matter. Let's use ice, water, and gas to show transformation of each state. Ice is considered a solid in matter. When ice melts it turns in to liquid (water) and when it sublimates it turns into gas. When gas deposits it turns into solid (ice). Gas condensates and turns into liquid and when that liquid evaporates it turns in to gas (fog). And last but not least when liquid freezes it turns it to a solid (ice).
